During his visit to Chenango County last week, Republican candidate for governor, Rob Astorino, spoke of the changes he feels need to be made in New York’s economic climate to keep our citizens from moving to another state.

He claimed that New York is the highest taxed state in the nation, the worst state for business, the worst for retirement, and has the largest number of people leaving the state. During the meet and greet at Fred’s Inn, he was asked about two issues of interest to Chenango County voters.

Rob Astorino states his views on the fracking issue:

He believes the NY SAFE Act is a bad law, saying it was implemented without regard for law abiding gun owners. He had further comments:

Astorino said in Westchester County, where he is currently County Manager, they have focused on the mental health community, strengthening it, not stigmatizing those who need help, while also seeing the red flag and dealing with it.
