State Senator James Seward met recently with dairy producers and advocates for farming during Legislative Dairy Day in Albany. Among those in attendance were representatives from Chobani of New Berlin/Edmeston and Gilligan's Island of Sherburne.  During this year's state budget negotiations, Seward led the fight to add more than 13 million dollars to the governor's budget proposal and restore cuts to many programs related to the agriculture industry.

This week, the Senate Agriculture Committee passed what might be my favorite legislation of all time, sponsored by Senator Seward.  It would allow the sale of ice cream made with BEER and HARD CIDER!  The bill had been requested by Gilligan's Island and would allow for development of a new product line that would combine dairy, craft beer, and cider.  Looks like I'll be making a few more stops in Sherburne in the future!
