We were joined in the Big Kat studios Tuesday morning by Elizabeth Monaco, Executive Director of the Chenango United Way, and two representatives from Broome United Way, Dena Trask and Alan Hertell.  They stopped in to tell us about the new 2-1-1 service which is now available to Chenango County residents.

By simply dialing 2-1-1, county residents can connect with a trained specialist who can quickly assess a caller's needs and connect them with services that can help with everyday needs.  The 2-1-1 Center assists with non-emergency issues ranging from basic needs like housing, food and clothing as well as issues related to transportation, finances, child care and more.

Hertel, Executive Director of Broome United Way talked about how helpful the service was during the flood of 2011 when they answered thousands of calls for help and information.

For more information on this new to Chenango County 2-1-1 service, call 334-8815, or even better, listen to the entire interview below.
