They are celebrating a very special milestone at the Rogers Environmental Education Center in Sherburne, as this year marks their 50th anniversary.  In 1968, John Weeks had a vision, put it down on paper, and ultimately, the Rogers Environmental Education Center came to be.  As part of their Golden Anniversary celebrations,  Friends of Rogers will host a variety of activities free for the whole family Saturday, June 9th from 10a-3p.  Activities include fishing, archery, camping, hiking, gardening, and more.

A special treat for all will be that the Center's founder, John Weeks will be in attendance as the featured artist for this year's Sherburne Arts festival, also taking place on the 9th in Gaines Park from 10a-4P.

To cap off the day's activities, their will be a re-dedication ceremony at the Rogers Center at 3:30 PM where everyone can enjoy birthday treats prepared by students from the DCMO Boces culinary program.

Friends of Rogers is a volunteer group founded in 2010 when the state eliminated funding for the center.  Were it not for their continued efforts, this beautiful Chenango County treasure would be long gone.  For information on everything Rogers, call 607-674-4733.
