Cooperstown lawmakers vote to implement tighter restrictions on those wanting to rent their properties on a short-term basis such as the ones that appear on AirBnB. The new regulations passed Thursday by the Board of Trustees those wanting to start what’s being called a transient rental business will now need to have owner occupancy meaning a person with more than 50% ownership of the property has to live on the premises. The law doesn’t apply to those already compliant with prior transient laws.
