Elmira resident, 26-year-old Michael J. Golotty pleaded guilty to arson in Chenango County court last week.

Golotty is responsible for the fire that destroyed storage units in the Town of Norwich last November. Along with other things, the fire destroyed donations for the Toys for Tots program. Golotty pleaded guilty to arson 3rd degree, a class C felony, and was sentenced to an indeterminate sentence of 5 to 10 years in prison. Golotty will also pay restitution to the victims upon his release.

He was remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility awaiting transfer to a state prison.
