It’s the video that launched a million phone calls. During his set at Country Fest 2012 in Wisconsin, Keith Urban covered this year’s pop summer anthem ‘Call Me Maybe,’ made famous by Canadian darling Carly Rae Jepsen.

The bouncy pop track has become an absolute viral phenomenon since being released stateside earlier this year, with everyone from Donald Trump and the ladies of the Miss USA pageant to Cookie Monster and even President Obama putting their spin on the tune. ‘Call Me Maybe’ has sold more than 4 million copies in the United States since its debut, and has spent several weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Needless to say, the song is pretty popular — even among country music fans. After giving concertgoers in Wisconsin a little lead-in, Urban turned his mic to the crowd, who promptly finished out the “call me maybe” line of the song.

When the Australian superstar isn’t performing hilarious covers during his live shows, offstage, Urban is focusing all his creative energy on his own next studio album. “My thing is making sure I have an album done,” Urban says of undertaking any other creative projects. “Mostly I’m just going to be in the studio for the next [few] months.”

He continues, “My intention for the record is to start exploring the stories in my own life. There’s plenty of them, and I’ve been through a lot of things and there’s a lot more of that exploration that’s happening already. I think it is taking shape a little bit. It feels like it’s the first one.”
