Two area soil and water conservation districts have been awarded grants to help farms address impacts of climate change. According to Governor Cuomo's Office, districts in Chenango and Schoharie Counties received a total of just over $87,000 to work with 7 farms on projects including planting cover crops to improve soil quality, reduce erosion, and to increase soil organic matter. The goal is to improve resiliency to the farms during periods of flood and drought and decrease the impacts of flooding downstream.
