There are few things that can keep a performer from the stage, but as Mitchell Tenpenny can attest, a bad back is a pretty hard one to ignore. The singer unfortunately was forced to cancel a string of shows due to painful back issues requiring a doctor's attention, which he detailed in a post to fans on social media.

"I just want to apologize to everyone about having to cancel a few shows," the singer hand-wrote on a notecard. "I went to the doctor today and a disc in my back has slipped out and is hitting a nerve. We are doing everything possible to get better, so I can get back on the road. I promise I will make this up to y'all! God bless."

As it turns out, Tenpenny will be missing Thursday night (Aug. 16) in Fresno, Calif.; Las Vegas on Friday (Aug. 17); and Moosefest 2018 in Muskegon, Mich. Saturday (Aug. 18). He was forced to cancel his show Wednesday (Aug. 15) in Bakersfield, Calif. as well.

Fans of course were understanding, flocking to his Instagram to urge Tenpenny to take care of his health first and recover, so he can safely return to the road. His next date, which has not been canceled as of posting time, is Aug. 22 in Nashville.

Tenpenny's debut single, "Drunk Me," has charmed fans with its clever mix of pop sensibilities and country roots. The Nashville native has live dates scheduled through September, so fingers crossed he is feeling better and ready to play soon.

Hold on, Mitch! We've Got One Last Question!
