At about 12:33 a.m. Sunday, State Police at Oneonta arrested a 27 year-old New Berlin man for the class E felony of aggravated family offense and the misdemeanors of 3rd degree assault, endangering the welfare of a child, criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation, 2nd degree unlawful imprisonment and 4th degree criminal mischief. The arrest of Kyle Johnson occurred after troopers responded to an Otsego County 911 report of a dispute on County Route 18, in the Town of Morris. An investigation determined that Johnson allegedly choked and punched his wife in front of their children. According to State Police, Johnson would not let her leave or call 911. The felony charge occurred because he has a prior conviction for criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation with the last five years and he is being charged with it again. Johnson was arraigned in the Town of Laurens court and was remanded to the Otsego County jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail. Johnson's next court date is May 4th in the town of Morris.
