An Oneonta Police dispatcher has received recognition from a national union for going above and beyond during an incident last year. According to the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Bruce Mazzone was given the Never Quit award for his work after receiving a call from a woman in Philadelphia saying a friend told her he was in Oneonta, was armed with a weapon and wanted to kill himself and anyone who approached him. Mazzone located the man and directed officers to his location where he was arrested without incident.
