"Trees are Terrific" was the theme of the local level of Arbor Day poster competition. Oxford Academy's fifth grade followed the guidelines for the NYS contest that were originally set by the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation, Agriculture and Markets, and Department of Education. Over 40 students entered the contest but only three could be selected as winners.

The winners, announced April 9th during a party at the Middle School, are, in 3rd place, Emma Hitt, second place Alexis Hall, and in first place, Emma Peila. They will receive prizes from the Oxford Village Tree Board at the Arbor Day celebration Saturday, April 25th at 9 AM at the LaFayette Park bandstand.
