NYC Man Arrested in Hartwick for Allegedly Selling Heroin

A 23-year-old New York City man was arrested Thursday for allegedly selling heroin on April 13 in Hartwick following a 2-month joint investigation by the Otsego County sheriff’s office criminal investigation division and the Oneonta PD detective bureau.

Rafael Emileo Morales of the Bronx was already in the Otsego County correctional facility where he was being held on bail on an unrelated drug possession charge. Morales was arraigned in the town of Hartwick court and remanded back to the correctional facility on $25,000 bail.

Southern Tier Council Plans for Grant Project

Since governor Cuomo took office he has insisted that New York State is “open for business”.

To achieve that goal, 10 regional economic development councils were set up across the state with Chenango County part of the southern tier council.

To make the process easier the Southern Tier Regional Council team and Commerce Chenango hosted a consolidated funding application workshop yesterday at SUNY Morrisville’s Norwich campus to show how to apply for $750 million in competitive grants in the second round of funding.

The grants will go to the best projects submitted from the 10 regional economic development councils in different regions of the state

NYS Troop C Officers Hold Memorial

New York State police officers in Troop C spent some time honoring their fallen troops yesterday at their Sidney headquarters.

Families, friends, and members of the community participated in prayers, speeches, and a wreath-laying.

The speakers included state senator James Seward along with various clergy.

The event gave families of slain troopers a chance to talk with each other.
