One of the things I hear often around Norwich is that "There's nothing to do."  I disagree wholeheartedly.  There was plenty to do in 2012, especially if you are a music fan.

Let's start with the Chenango Blues Fest. What the Chenango Blues Association has accomplished in the last 20 years is amazing as far as I'm concerned. They have taken a small 2 or 3 act show attended by 100 people and have turned it into one of the most anticipated 2 day events, not just locally, but in the state.  While the week end of the event in itself is awesome, so were the concerts in the park leading up to the festival, giving us all something to do on a summer Thursday evening. Can't wait to see who's coming next year.

Another event whose growth over the years is impressive is Gus Macker week end.  I can remember sitting in the Silo City Club(miss you, Gary) and eavesdropping on a conversation by some ambitious and committed local residents as they discussed and planned the first "Macker"  some 15 years or so ago, and look what that has become....three days of plenty to do.

Colorscape Chenango continues to be loads of fun in that the organizers bring first class entertainment to the park year after year(good job, Ken).  There you go...2 more days with plenty to do.

Of course there is so much more to do and see, from the Northeast Classic Car Museum, to the great events each year at The Council of the Arts, the county fairs, lunchtime concerts in the park, the Pumpkin Festival, the thankfully still open Colonia Theater, Earlville Opera House, 6 On The Square and so much more.

I just don't buy it and never will when someone says there is just nothing to do around here.
