The Southern Tier Chapter of the American Red Cross is getting a boost from some school children.

5th grade students from the Susquehanna Valley Brookside Elementary School are presenting a $766 check to the Red Cross.

The students raised the money from book sales, a basket raffle, bottle drive and other events after learning how the Red Cross helps people following natural disasters.  The effort was part of an English Language Arts project on natural disasters.

The students cooperatively designed, organized and organized the projects.
