Alisan Porter applies the soulful delivery that won her the 10th season of The Voice to a tried-and-true country song trope, addressing the frustrations of love with her brand-new single "What If I Wake Up." Readers can press play below to hear the track, which is premiering exclusively on The Boot.

Listeners take a hazy stroll alongside Porter as she pensively wonders if the natural high that comes with new love lasts beyond one surreal weekend. The lyrics, co-written by Porter, Matt Rollings, Kylie Rothfield and Stephony Smith, and overall tone of the song, produced by Porter and Rollings, teeter between those familiar, conflicting feelings of fear and elation that come amid a sudden fling with a longtime crush or a total stranger.

""What If I Wake Up" is a story of 'what if?': What if this love or this moment in my life isn't real? What if I wake up and it's not love? Or what if this amazing moment in time passes, and it was all a dream?" Porter tells The Boot. "It's also about being in the moment, being present for your life and accepting good and bad as just life -- riding the wave and having experiences."

Porter showed an affinity for country music during her run on The Voice, winning over the judges for the first time with a cover of Linda Ronstadt's "Blue Bayou" before swaying the public vote with the Dixie Chicks' "Let Him Fly," the Eagles' "Desperado" and a folksy original, "Down That Road." In non-competition performances, she sang John Prine's "Angel From Montgomery" with fellow competitor Adam Wakefield and "Unlove You," a Jennifer Nettles solo cut co-written by Brandy Clark, with Nettles.

Before unveiling her singing talents to a national audience, Porter had a prior life as a child star. She appeared in 1989's Parenthood with banjo aficionado Steve Martin and co-starred with Jim Belushi in 1991's Curly Sue.
