Two years ago, I decided to go back to school.  I signed up for a couple of classes I thought would be interesting, challenging, and basically keep me off the streets.  Sign up was painless, but then came time to buy the necessary text books.  Needless to say, the trip to the campus book store resulted in a severe case of sticker shock.

That wasn't the worst , though. That came at the start of the second semester.  That's when I found out that, not only could I not sell back my books because they were only being used for one semester, but the books I needed for my next two classes had been "updated," that is a new edition had been published with only a few minor changes, but enough changes that made a new book necessary in the school's judgement so purchasing used books was not an option.

That's one way consumers can get ripped off these days. There are more, of course.  Check out these 7 rip offs you should know about.
