Carly Pearce Says New Song ‘It Won’t Always Be Like This’ Is ‘My Story in Every Line’ [LISTEN]
To celebrate unveiling her forthcoming album's track list on Friday (Dec. 6), Carly Pearce shared another new song off the project. Called "It Won't Always Be Like This," the new tune is a powerful, piano-driven ballad about appreciating every stage of life.
"This song is my story in every line," Pearce wrote on Instagram. "I cried writing this song because it was so personal. From my love of my hometown in Kentucky, to missing my grandpa, to my struggles in Nashville, to finding my true love...I hope you can insert your own story into this one."
Each of the song's verses reviews a stage in Pearce's life, reflecting on how she was often anxious to power through her current situation to get on to the next one. In retrospect, she sings, she wishes she had held on to the moment a little tighter.
Pearce debuted the song live at the Grand Ole Opry back in June, saying from that stage that it was "probably the most personal song that I will ever write in my career." At the time, she hadn't yet announced her self-titled sophomore album, though Pearce had shared the project's first single, "Closer to You."
"It Won't Always Be Like This" is the third track to come off of Carly Pearce, following "Closer to You" and a duet with Lee Brice called "I Hope You're Happy Now." When she announced more album details on Friday, Pearce also revealed that an impressive roster of country stars co-wrote on the project. Phillip Sweet and Jimi Westbrook of Little Big Town, Old Dominion's Trevor Rosen and country superstar Luke Combs all contributed their writing talents to the album.
Additionally, Pearce shared that a forthcoming duet with her new husband and fellow country star Michael Ray also had some star power in the writing room: Among others, Thomas Rhett and Kelsea Ballerini co-wrote the track.
