Chenango County Now Available to TEXT to 9-1-1

The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office reminds residents that Text-to-9-1-1 service is now available. While making a voice call to 9-1-1 is still the best way to summon emergency help, Text to 9-1-1 is a critical tool for those unable to speak, who are hearing-impaired or have a speech disability. It also provides a silent alternative in cases such as domestic abuse, child abduction, home invasion or an active shooter situation.
