June is National Dairy Month and in Chenango County the 13th annual Dairy Day will be celebrated on Saturday in Norwich with a parade, events at the fairgrounds and much more. Karen Hoffman, Dairy Day committee member, says the event includes a number of activities to honor the dairy industry in Chenango County.

“We have a 5K Milk Run that kind of starts off the day at 9 o’clock from the infield of the fairgrounds," she said. "Runners can meet there at the main gate for the track on East Main Street and then we have the parade, we have a duck derby and we have all kinds of activities at the fairgrounds including a petting zoo, a hay bail maze and dairy product samples.”

A demonstration from the Recycled Agricultural Plastics Program, a skillet toss to benefit Habitat for Humanity and many activities for the kids will be featured at the event. Dairy Day begins at 9 a.m. Saturday with the start of the 5K Milk Run, followed by the parade at 10:30 a.m. from the Tops parking lot to the fairgrounds, where activities for the whole family will continue until 3 p.m.
