Efforts Underway to Aid Local Family After Tragic Farm Accident

Several fundraisers are planned to raise money to benefit the family of Dan Banks, 40.  He died in a tragic farm accident at his home in Westford, NY.  He leaves behind a wife and five children, including a one-year old.

One fund asks for donations to be made payable to Benefit Fund for the Farm Family of Daniel Banks.  Donations can be sent to 1670 Southside Dr., Oneonta, NY 13820.  Monies will be deposited in the Delaware National Bank for the family.

Another fundraiser asks for donations to be sent to the Westford Fire Department, PO Box 24, Westford, NY 13499.

A press release from a family spokesperson was released early this week:

"The Banks Family needs our help: Otsego County Friends, Kevin Ritton has shared the following with us:

'For those who do not know me, I am the Asst. Chief of the Westford Fire Department. Following the tragic accident this week involving Dan Banks, his family had generously requested donations in Dan's Memory be sent to the Westford Fire Department, PO Box 24 Westford NY 13488. While the generosity of this family is greatly appreciated, the men and women of the Westford Fire Department will be taking any and all donations in Dan's memory and providing these funds directly to the family to support their needs. Please help spread the word on how people may donate to help this family in their time of need.'

A memorial service will be held for Daniel Banks at Westford Memorial Church, Main Street, Westford on Saturday February 1st at 11 am. Reverend Susan Wenner will officiate.
