George Strait Is Headed Back to the Houston Rodeo

On his birthday, the Houston Live Stock Show and Rodeo announced that George Strait would be returning to the 2022 Rodeo.

In celebration of the 90th Anniversary of the Houston Live Stock Show and Rodeo, its only fitting that George Strait be part of the festivities. This will mark is 31st performance over a span of 40 years.

“What better way to celebrate the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo’s 90th anniversary than with a special, concert-only performance by the ‘King of Country’ music himself,” Rodeo president and CEO Chris Boleman  Rodeo Houston

The show date is set for March 20, 2022, the final day of the rodeo. This will be a concert only performance, there will be no rodeo performance that day. The concert will be held at NRG Stadium. Tickets for the event will go on sale June 24th.  You know this will be a sold out show. George Strait's first performance at the Houston Rodeo was in 1983.

George Strait made his rodeo debut over 35 years ago and has been a staple ever since .George Strait's first performance at the Houston Rodeo was in 1983.

In 1996, Strait was inducted into the RODEOHOUSTON Star Trail of Fame in recognition of his musical contributions to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. He is one of only nine artists to receive this award since the first entertainer performance in 1942. In  2013 the first ever four year Houston Live Stock Show and Rodeo George Strait Scholarship. There is a reason he is called the King of Country Music. In his career he has had more number ones than any other artist in any genre. He is also a member of  the Country Music Hall of Fame.
