The Chenango Arts Council is pleased to announce that they have been awarded a grant from the Community Foundation of South Central New York to renovate the entrance, lobby, and hallway of the former Norwich High School building that has housed the CAC offices, Martin Kappel Theater,  and Brown and Loft Galleries since 1983.

The current carpeting and paint were installed nearly 25 years ago, and the hallway that runs from the lobby to the back of the building still has its original 1950's look.   The update will include new carpeting, stair treatments, and paint for lobby and entrance walls.  In addition, the Council will transform part of the lobby area into a pictorial tribute to the rich history of the building.

The total project cost is estimated to be $20,000.  The grant award is for a little over $11,000, and the Council will be appealing to local businesses and community members for donations to make up the difference.  All who make donations will be recognized  during a special unveiling ceremony upon completion of the project.   The Chenango Arts Council is located at 27 West Main Street in downtown Norwich.
