So Syracuse University head football coach Doug Marrone is leaving to become the next head coach of the Buffalo Bills.  So what?  Read some so called fans' reactions to this decision and you would think he had committed high treason against the country. He is being labelled as a hypocrite, traitor, a sell-out and more.  Get over it.

Here is a guy who has the opportunity to ascend the peak of his profession and at least quadruple his salary and he is supposed to say no?  Sure he recently said the Syracuse job was his "dream job," but why can't someone have more than one dream?  Besides, why would this be so devastating to the program?  He admittedly has turned things around somewhat, but he is still 25-25 during his tenure. Coach P. was fired after a .500 season.  Oh yeah, Marrone also brought home that oh so precious Pinstripe Bowl trophy twice. Whatever. Get over it.

The timing seems perfect for Marrone to make the move now. The Bills stink and all they will have to do is show minimal improvement for him to be considered successful next year.  Will he succeed? Others have made the jump before him and failed miserably, but the worst that will happen is a fat NFL paycheck for 3 or 4 years and a return to a high level Division One program.

Syracuse sportswriter Bud Poliquin wrote a good article on Marrone's decision, but it is some of the comments that follow it that are just wrong.  Get over it!
