The big story for the National Football League this week is, of course, the playoffs this weekend with 4 wild card games. Unfortunately for the league, the focus is on off-the-field news. As of Wednesday afternoon, 3 of the 4 games were a long way from selling out, meaning there was a chance the games would be blacked out on local TV. The NFL probably won't let that happen, but still, you need to wonder why.

According to the Green Bay Packers web site, there is a 30 year waiting list for season tickets, yet there were still almost 10,000 available Wednesday. The same for Cincinnati and Indianapolis.  Are fans finally getting tired of being gouged for tickets, PSL's, concessions and parking? Or is it just something as simple as people preferring to watch from the comfort of home or their favorite watering hole? Game time temperature in Green Bay by the way expected to be 12 with 20 below chill factor. Hard to tell, but click on this story for a possible explanation of the Green Bay situation.

Speaking of gouging, check out these Super Bowl price increases.  The same Port Authority to the Meadowlands round trip service that costs 10 dollars for Jets and Giants games will cost 51 dollars for the big game. Parking, normally an outrageous 30 dollars for regular season games will cost 150 dollars. Nice.
