A fundraiser to benefit the Literacy Volunteers of Chenango County will take place June 15. The annual “Play for Literacy” Scrabble tournament will be held from 1 to 4:30 p.m. at the SUNY-Morrisville Norwich Campus. Lori Jerome, Director of Literacy Volunteers of Chenango County says this is the 9th-annual Scrabble tournament to benefit the organization.

“It’s is a fundraiser, but really more than raising money, it’s an event where we can raise awareness about the needs for literacy in Chenango County and have some fun at the same time,” Jerome said. “They’ll be three rounds of Scrabble, we play at three different levels. We have starter levels, instead of beginner, and then we have intermediate and advanced. You can play as a team of one or you can play as a team of two, three, or four.”

Early registration for the event is $10 per person or $12 at the door. Call 334-7114 ext. 279 to register or for more information.
