Local Agencies To Address Substance Abuse in the Workplace

Commerce Chenango, in partnership with Chenango Health Network and UHS Chenango Memorial will present a workshop entitled "Substance Abuse in the Workplace" Friday, November 2nd at the Canasawacta Country Club in Norwich.  Goals of the workshop include understanding drug abuse, recognizing the signs of an abuse problem, identifying the harmful effects of substance abuse in the workplace, learning policy and law, and discussing ways to assist employees in getting help while protecting other workers and the organization.

A number of speakers are scheduled including  keynote speaker Attorney Dawn J. Lanouette, as well as representatives from UHS involved in Alcohol and Drug abuse treatment and mental hygiene programs.

Attendees should register by October 31st at chenangony.org or by calling 607-334-1400.  The cost to attend is $20 for chamber members and $25 for non members.  Registration and breakfast begin at 7:45 and the program runs from 8:30 to 11:30.
