During a recent visit to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Luke Combs and his band put the late-night TV show's backstage music room to good use, covering the Allman Brothers Band's "Ramblin' Man."

Combs and company's take on the Southern rock classic is a mandolin-heavy, harmony-laden jam, not overly different from the Allmans' original version, but different enough to make it more than just another "Ramblin' Man" cover. The song has always been a bit more country than the Allman Brothers' other material, in part because a Hank Williams song of the same name inspired Dickey Betts to write the track.

"Ramblin' Man," released in 1973 as the lead single from the Allman Brothers Band's Brothers and Sisters album, is the group's first — and only — Top 10 single. The song hit No. 2 on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100.

Combs has been a busy guy lately, still riding high on the massive success of his debut album, 2017's This One's for You. His newest single, "Beer Never Broke My Heart," is quickly climbing up the charts, and on Friday (June 7), he'll release a new EP, The Prequel.

Combs is also on the road this summer, for his Beer Never Broke My Heart Tour. The trek will last into the fall.
