The federal government has nearly a half billion dollars in unspent federal highway money, and New York is eligible for $29 million in transportation funds for projects in the state.

Some of the $473 million of the unspent earmark has been held by the federal government since 2003.

Now states have until Oct. 1 to tell the federal government how they’d spend the money on transportation projects.

With New York receiving $29 million, jobs will be created and eligible transportation projects will be completed.
