The city of Norwich will have a Centennial celebration  with numerous events throughout the year, beginning with a Centennial Parade Friday, May 23rd. The parade will start at 7 PM and the route will take marchers south to north on Broad Street. The parade will be followed by entertainment in East and West Parks

The theme for this year's parade is "Celebrating the past and looking to the future." The Business Improvement District is encouraging residents to participate with this theme in mind, and their hope is for all entries to reflect a time period or some form of the city's history. One example is to decorate a float to honor a business circa the 1914 era.

Remember, the parade will take the place of the Friday night cruise-in, but car owners are urged to participate. For registration information, go to the BID website or call 337-3064.

It should be a fun summer!
