At approximately 4:30 AM on Sunday, August 31st, Norwich Police arrested 3 men for felony possession of marijuana. Officers were called to a Mitchell St. address after receiving a report of a 4 year old child crying in the street. Officers responded and found a young male on the sidewalk yelling for his father. While officers were searching the area they came across the boy's father exiting a basement of a residence. Upon further investigation, officers discovered the boy's father and 2 others were processing a large amount of marijuana in the home's basement.All three were taken into custody and the boy was turned over to a family member.

Chief Angelino said the marijuana weighed in excess of 10 pounds. Those arrested include Wilson Hatton, Sr., age 34 of Sidney, Heath P. Oakes, age 30, of Cincinnatus, and Wayne E. Church Sr., age 32 of Norwich. All three were arraigned in Norwich City Court and sent to the Chenango County Jail. Bail was set on Hatton and Oakes at 20,000. There was no bail set on Church as it was determined he was on parole.
