Otsego County will be holding its 17th Annual Household Hazardous Waste Day in two locations.  Friday September 12th, 2014 at the Unadilla Town Barn in Unadilla, New York from 8am to 12pm and Sept 13, 2014 at the Meadows Office Complex in Cooperstown, New York from 8am to 1pm.

Households can bring hazardous waste, enamel paints, pesticides, antifreeze, batteries and much more free of charge for disposal. Unadilla - no pharmaceuticals or electronics accepted.  Cooperstown - no electronics accepted.

HAZARDOUS MATERIALS ACCEPTED

Paints, pesticides, solvents, mercury, chemical cleaners, automotive batteries, anti-freeze, hobby and pool chemicals, fluorescent bulbs, CFL light bulbs & ballasts, propane tanks (no larger than 40lbs) and more.  No explosives or ammunition. No charge for households.

PHARMACEUTICALS ACCEPTED (Cooperstown ONLY)

Expired and unwanted prescriptions, vitamins, veterinary medications, over-the-counter medications, lancets, and more.  NO SYRINGES.

BATTERY COLLECTION

Now offering a collection for the following types of batteries: Alkaline/Zinc, Ni-Cad (dry & wet), Nickel Iron (wet), Nickel Metal Hydride (dry & wet), Lithium Ion, Lithium Primary, Mercury, Silver Oxide, Button Cells, and Lead Acid.
