The traditional “eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month” Veterans Day observance was not held like usual at Fort Hill American Legion Post #376 due to the pandemic. There was, however, a small private ceremony for a few members. A quilt presentation was a highlight. The One Stitch at a Time volunteers have created honorary quilts for Korean Conflict veterans of Post 376; part of the Quilts of Honor Program. One of those veterans was Cora Swartout. Cora served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Cora is a Life Member of Post 376 and has been a Legion member for 56 years. The quilt she received is to show veterans how much their sacrifice and service is appreciated with “Quilted Hugs of Gratitude”. Quilts of Honor provide comfort, love and healing to those who have given so much.
