Sam Hunt brought the house down with his cover of Reba McEntire's "Fancy" at the 2109 CMT Artists of the Year ceremony. The country star closed out the night's festivities with his full-band performance.

Hunt's version of "Fancy" kept the power of McEntire's original (itself a cover of Bobbie Gentry's 1969 hit), but added a new flair thanks to a brash, full backing band accompanying Hunt, who played an acoustic guitar as he sang. As the show's credits rolled, he and the band continued to jam out, the crowd rising to its collective feet for a standing ovation.

"Fancy" became a hit for McEntire in the early 1990s. It's one of her best known and most enduring songs.

Hunt's performance of "Fancy" was part of a segment of the 2019 CMT Artists of the Year ceremony honoring McEntire as the 2019 Artist of a Lifetime. A performance by Lady Antebellum (of McEntire's hit "Is There Life Out There?") and a heartfelt speech from McEntire's friend and fellow country star Vince Gill, as well as a video segment in which Dan + Shay, Carrie Underwood and others sang her praises, preceded Hunt's performance.

The 2019 CMT Artists of the Year ceremony honored Underwood, Dan + Shay, Luke CombsKane Brown and Thomas Rhett as the 10th class of CMT Artists of the Year. In addition to McEntire's Artist of a Lifetime honor, Ashley McBryde was named Breakout Artist of the Year.
