State Police Investigating Fatal Accident in Cortlandville

State Police at Homer investigated a two-car fatal accident Wednesday around 12:30 p.m.

The accident occurred on State Route 41 in the Town of Cortlandville.

Janet L. Cochren, 55, of McGraw, was traveling west on Route 41 when her vehicle was struck head on by a vehicle driven by Gary L.Strout Jr., 41, also of McGraw. Cochran was transported to Cortland regional medical center where she was pronounced dead.

Strout suffered minor injuries and was released. Strout was charged with DWI and vehicular manslaughter, a Class C felony. The investigation is continuing.
