Apparently, having the most successful album of 2014, a major world tour and a slew of No. 1 hits doesn’t excuse you from your civic duty.

Taylor Swift was selected to be a juror in Nashville’s Davidson County on Monday, Dec. 7, according to the Tennessean, but unfortunately for fellow jurors, she was unable to appear. Swift deferred her turn by a year, since she is currently in Australia as part of her 1989 World Tour.

The country-pop superstar was also included several times in the list of Grammy nominees this week — seven, to be exact — including one for Album of the Year. The nomination is clearly deserved, as the record was only the fifth album ever to stay in the Billboard 200 Top 10 for a full year. It sold more copies in its first week than any other album in the preceding 12 years.

Swift's 1989 World Tour has been a whirlwind of famous guests and sold-out shows, featuring everyone from icons like Steven Tyler and Mick Jagger to country artists like Sam Hunt and Miranda Lambert. It wraps up this month in Australia, after which the artist has said she’s planning on taking a much-needed break.

“I think I should take some time off,” she says. “People might need a break from me. I’m going to hang out with friends. Write new music. Maybe not write new music. I don’t know.”

Swift's most recent single “Wildest Dreams” hit No. 1 on the Billboard Adult Top 40 chart and No. 5 on the Hot 100.
