Tracy Lawrence's playlist for The Boot pays homage to the relative newcomers keeping country's traditional side alive: Luke Combs and Jon Pardi, two powerhouses in the format, make appearances in the legendary singer's list of favorite tunes. However, Lawrence also expresses his appreciation for music that simply jams out hard, plain and simple, as rock-influenced rising star Hardy also merits inclusion in this collection.

Lawrence may be an avid consumer of new country tunes, but he doesn't forget the classics, either. One of the songs included in this batch of favorites is Merle Haggard's 1980 hit "Make-Up and Faded Blue Jeans," a track that Lawrence says continues to be an important part of his pre-show routine, even today. "I think y'all know I'm a huge Merle Haggard fan. [This song] is one of my favorite old classic songs. Love to warm up to this before the show," he explains.

Lawrence's playlist includes plenty of radio hits -- Pardi's "Head Over Boots," Jason Aldean's "You Make It Easy" and Brooks & Dunn's "She Used to Be Mine" all hit No. 1 during their respective heydays -- but he doesn't shy away from deep cuts. "["California"] is a song from my buddies Big & Rich. Wasn't a huge hit on the charts, but it's one of my favorite things they've ever done," he relates.

"[There's a] little rock, little blues-rock stuff at the end of it, but there's some amazing tracks on this album," Lawrence says. "I think it's one of the best albums that I have made in a long time."
