The 10th annual Recycled Holiday Ornament contest has begun at the Oxford Academy Primary School.  The event is timed to coincide with the state's "NY Recycles" and the national "America Recycles Day" held every year on November 15th. All three of Oxford Academy school district's art teachers are involved.

While the contest is certainly fun for the students, a positive ecological message is sent to all involved.  Sponsored by the Oxford Holiday Committee, the contest specifies that ornaments no larger than 8 inches be constructed of materials that would normally go in the garbage can.

The winning students will have the honor of having their names announced by the Mayor at the Holiday Tree Lighting ceremony in LaFayette Park Sunday, December 1st at 5 PM.
