We were joined in the Big Kat studios Friday morning by Chenango United Way Executive Director Elizabeth Monaco and Executive Director of The Place Rebecca Sands and they brought us up to date on this year's fundraising effort. Unfortunately, it wasn't good news. According to Elizabeth, they are projected to finish 70,000 dollars short of their goal. That could mean some hard times for local agencies that rely on United Way contributions.

One of those agencies is The Place, and Rebecca said without the United Way funds, many programs could be cut or scaled back significantly.  Elizabeth said if the shortfall does come to fruition, agencies could receive 40-50% less than they requested.
