My being a long time Red Sox fan, and I do mean LONG time, when I read that former

Cincinnati Reds pitcher Pedro Borbon died recently, I couldn't help but think of that great '75 World Series when the Sox almost broke the curse. Borbon was a member of the Reds team that won back to back titles in 75 and 76.

I was a freshman at the University of Maine ( told ya LONG time) and the TV lounge was full when Bernie Carbo , who has since admitted he was high at the time,  hit the tying bomb to center field, and it was standing room only when Fisk waved his game winner fair. Hard to believe, that after Joe Morgan's game winning hit in game 7, that it would be another 30 years before the curse actually was broken.
