Music Legend Coming To Oxford

I was thirteen years old when I attended my first concert at Memorial Auditorium in Burlington, VT.  The artist....Melanie, just months removed from her performance at Woodstock.  Unfortunately what stands out the most for me that night was trying to step over four teen aged girls and falling flat on my face across the laps of all four.

This Saturday, December 1st, I get an opportunity to "relive" my first concert experience at 6 On The Square in Oxford as Melanie Safka will perform at 7:30 PM.

It was during a rain soaked performance at Woodstock that she launched a 40 year career that has resulted in her selling more than 80 million records, including the number one hit "Brand New Key,"  and my favorite "Lay Down (Candles in the Rain)." She has even won an Emmy and her songs have been covered by such artists as Dolly Parton, Cher and Macy Gray.
