This Saturday, April 27th marks the 20th annual "Tree City USA" Arbor Day celebration at the Lafayette Park bandstand in Oxford. The ceremony begins at 9 AM with a proclamation, prize presentations to 3 Oxford Academy 5th grade poster contest winners and a give away of 200 seedling trees.

Oxford was recently named a "Tree City USA" by the National Arbor Day Foundation. One of the pre-requisites for the designation is that the community must have a tree board, which Oxford has. Having an Arbor Day observance is another requirement, and the Tree Board coordinates the observance with a tree give away.

Once again, the celebration begins at 9 at Lafayette Park.
